Our small village is one of the most beautiful in the highlands. But it is also
large enough to provide most facilities.
There are two pubs,
a Spar store with petrol station, and a Mace store in Baddidaroch.
We also have
a hardware store, a gift shop, a post office, a butcher, a newsagent and a fish monger.
There is also a health centre, should it be needed.
But above all, the Tourist Office in the Assynt Visitor Centre, will
give information on walks, angling, birdwatching,
wildlife and many other attractions.
Lochinver Larder, also known as the Bistro, is a most popular restaurant
in the village. Alongside the loch it provides snacks as well as full meals. Its pies are
famous and it boasts of many illustrious visitors.
The two pubs - the Caberfeidh,
next door to the Bistro, and the Culag Hotel, adjacent to the harbour also do fine meals.
The fishermans mission, behind the harbour, does a splendid line in fish and chips,
amongst other items.
Generally folk make their own around here - at home or socialising in
bars. Visitors are always made welcome.
If you are lucky you might come on a
day when the village hall is holding a ceilidh, or an entertainment.
Last year
Julie Felix gave a fine concert and the excellent Mull Theatre Company put on Robert
Louis Stevenson's Kidnapped.
These events are always packed - so book early
at the Tourist office.
